St Laurent Housing
When Manitoba Housing promised three million dollars for sixteen temporary homes, residents of St. Laurent were told they would be available soon. But, to date only six have arrived, with four in December and two more this past weekend. That means ten more homes are still missing and families that were promised the temporary accommodations are still having to find other places to live. Originally 60 residents of St Laurent were interested in the temporary homes after flooding destroyed their own properties, but delays have forced most of them to find new places to live outside the municipality. Residents say its been almost eight months with no answers and that they don''t know anymore now then they did when the flooding first began.
