Hutterite Diversify
Some Prairie Hutterite colonies, once known mainly as agricultural producers, are starting to diversify into the manufacturing and construction industries. Decker Manufacturing, a company owned and operated by the Decker Hutterite Bretheren Colony in southwestern Manitoba, have sold boilers throughout North America and in Europe, and the company is making as much as $2 million in annual sales. But the success of Decker Manufacutring is raising concerns from their competitors, who say the Hutterites have an unfair business advantage.
