Robbery Charges

A 22-year-old man has been charged in connection with the robbery and assault of an elderly woman in her Winnipeg apartment suite. The man allegedly forced his way into the the residence of 88-year-old Lena Stetwick on Saturday and demanded money. He struck her, knocking her down, then searched the home. The woman was sent to hospital with serious upper body injuries and has since been upgraded to stable condition. Officers arrested the man at the downtown Millennium Library on Tuesday afternoon. The man has been charged with Aggravated assault, Break and enter to commit an indictable offence, Robbery with violence, Failure to comply with the conditions of a recognizance and 4 counts of breach of Probation. He has been detained in custody.
