Murder Trial
Crown witness tells court in Winnipeg that accused murderer paid $10,000 to have his family members killed. Jeremie Toupin took the stand on Wednesday and described a murder plot allegedly hatched by Denis Jerome Labossiere to kill his brother Remi. Although the plan originally focused on Remi, it later came to include murdering Labossiere''s parents Fernand and Rita as well, Toupin said. Labossiere is charged with three counts of first-degree murder in connection with those deaths. The bodies of Fernand, 78, Rita, 74, and Remi, 44, were found in the basement of their farm house in Saint Leon after a fire in November 2005. It was later determined that they had first been shot. The trial is expected to run through next week.
