Jail Beating

Jurors in the trial of five Manitoba jail inmates accused of brutally beating another inmate saw video footage from the day of the alleged attack. Surveillance video from the Milner Ridge Correctional Centre, where Kent Wilson was severely assaulted on Dec. 21, 2009, was shown to the jury Thursday in Winnipeg. Crown prosecutors have said Wilson, who was 33 years old at the time, was forced to the ground and kicked repeatedly in a hallway at the minimum- to medium-security jail. The attack has left Wilson physically and mentally disabled. The Crown alleges that the five accused inmates were let out of the gymnasium after a guard accidentally opened a door, then ran down the hallway where the attack on Wilson allegedly happened.
