Sunday Shopping Hours

Business owners can expect to start doing business Sunday mornings by August 1st. Changes to the province’s Retail Businesses Holiday Closing Act were announced when Manitoba unrolled its budget in early April, but those changes take effect next month. Provided municipalities pass by-laws allowing it, businesses will be able to be open from nine in the morning until six in the evening. However, those employees wishing to exercise their right to not work on Sundays will be allowed to do so. The expanded Sunday hours also applies to some holidays – Louis Riel Day, Victoria Day, and Thanksgiving Day.
