New Fertilizer Plant

A new fertilizer plant is on the way to being built in North Dakota, and Manitoba Farmers will have a seat on the board. The billion dollar project has moved from the feasibility stage to the planning stage. Keystone Agricultural Producers President Doug Chorney (Cher-nee) says that Manitoba farmers are supporting the project in hopes of bringing down fertilizer prices. Natural gas will be used to create the fertilizer, so it will not be dependent on off shore supplies and freight costs.

Chorney adds that the fertilizer will be available to Manitoba through distributors, and represent a significant portion of the market.
