Teens Sentenced

Two teenage girls from the Sandy Bay First Nation have been sentenced for their role in a decapitation death. 32-year-old Roberta McIvor was beheaded as she was dragged along the road in a vehicle the two youths had stolen. The girls thought that they had dumped the passed out woman from the vehicle. Both were sentenced to two years, the maximum sentence for youth in a manslaughter case. The judge allowed a credit of one year for time served. The Crown had been seeking the maximum penalty of two years, without credit for time served. Both girls expressed remorse at the sentencing, but the McIvor''s mother said that the sentence was not enough. She said no sentence could ever make up for what they had done to her daughter.
